Tens of Thousands Rally in Hamburg Against Far Right
Organizers End Protest Early
Tens of thousands of people gathered in Hamburg, Germany, on Friday for a demonstration against the far right. Organizers said the protest drew over 50,000 people, while police estimated the crowd at around 40,000.
Protest Cut Short
The protest was cut short by organizers at around 4:40 pm local time, according to police. No reason was immediately given for the early end of the demonstration.
Counter-Protests
There were also several counter-protests in Hamburg on Friday, including a demonstration by the far-right group Pegida. However, police said that the counter-protests remained peaceful and no arrests were made.
