Charlotte Dujardin Withdraws from Paris Games

Olympic equestrian withdraws after video surfaces

British Olympian Charlotte Dujardin has withdrawn from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after a video emerged that allegedly shows her whipping a horse, according to multiple media reports.

The video, which was posted on social media, has sparked outrage and has led to Dujardin being suspended by the British Equestrian Federation (BEF).

The BEF said in a statement that it was "aware of the video and is investigating the matter." The FEI, the international governing body for equestrian sports, has also opened an investigation.

Dujardin is one of Britain's most successful equestrian athletes, having won three gold medals, a silver medal, and two bronze medals at the Olympic Games. She was also part of the British team that won gold at the 2012 London Olympics.

Dujardin's withdrawal from the Paris Games is a major blow to the British team. She was one of the favorites to win a medal in the individual dressage competition.

The FEI investigation is likely to take several weeks or even months to complete. Dujardin could face a lengthy suspension if she is found guilty of violating the FEI's rules.
